Trump poised to violate Constitution his first day in office, George W. Bush’s ethics lawyer says

Trump is poised to violate a key anti-foreign bribery provision of the Constitution, which prohibits taking things of value from foreign powers without Congressional consent.
This is the emoluments clause--the clause that came out of fear of foreign influence, fear of the corrupting power of Benjamin Franklin accepting a Snuff Box from the King of France.
This is not about partisanship, but constitutionalism: George Bush's ethics lawyer raised the issue in this article.

The Constitution doesn’t allow presidents to seek gifts from foreign agents.
