我們在為大家介紹參加美國世大運代表隊的同時，也想要向大家介紹美國運動史上的一個重要里程碑：你可曾注意到參加2017台北世大運各項目的美國代表隊幾乎男女人數都相同嗎？這一切都要歸功於1972年6月23日美國總統簽署的教育法修正案第九條（Title IX），這項聯邦法案規定任何人都不得因其性別被排除在接受聯邦資助的任何教育計畫或活動之外。「第九條」適用於所有接受聯邦補助的公私教育機構。男女必須獲得平等參與體育活動的機會。此法頒布後，美國女學生參與體育活動的機會有了卓越的提升。AIT想為所有女性運動員加油！祝她們在世大運能有好成績！

While we are talking about teams participating in the University Games, we’d like to share some important American sports history with you: Have you noticed that the USA Team has a balanced number of male and female athletes in nearly every sport in the 2017 Taipei World University Games? This is thanks to an important law that the U.S. president signed on June 23, 1972 - Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX is a U.S. federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. Title IX applies to all educational institutions, both public and private, that receive federal funding. It requires that both men and women must be provided with equal opportunities to participate in sports. After the law was enacted, girls participation in sports in the United States increased dramatically. AIT gives a special shout-out to female athletes everywhere! Good-luck in the games girls!
