Obituary: March Fong Eu

In 1966, March Fong Eu argued pay toilets were unfair to women because men typically had free access to urinals. To drive home the point, she used a sledge hammer to smash a toilet on the California state capitol steps.
March Fong Eu, who died Dec. 21, was warned of limited employment opportunities by a high school counselor. She went on to be one of California’s most popular politicians and a ground breaker for Asian Americans and women in state politics.
